Subject:Hello

Thanks so much for this website. I just dropped in to say hello. I'm retired after 38 years of public school teaching, although I still work with new teachers as a BTSA mentor just because I enjoy working with teachers. Ron Batte' Class of 1962 passed in 1997. Our daughter Diana Batte passed this year. We have one son in Arizona married and doing very well. I am so fortunate to be spending my Golden Years with my present husband, and through him I have six grandchildren!

I was on the college track in high school and Mrs. Gawthrope wouldn't let me take typing because I wasn't on the business track. I type pretty fast with just two fingers. The new teachers think it is really funny. Did anyone ever think we'd spend a large part of our day typing in our Golden Years? The computer is the first thing I sit down to in the morning and the last thing I check before I retire for the night. I wonder if I would have learned to type correctly, and if I had, could I still have my fingernails an inch and a half long?

Take care. Glad I stopped by, and thanks to Don for all his hard work.

Jean

Don and Class of '63 Alums: How nice to see some very familiar and happy faces in the photos at your website! I attended Will Rogers with many of you then moved on to Lawndale High when it opened in 1959. I hope that some of you remember me. I've recently been in touch with Jeanette Malkovich Walker, my best friend at Will Rogers. We reconnected through Facebook. Here's a link to a great Lawndale High website (www.lawndalehigh.org) in case you want to look someone up. Enjoy.
